On <\/span>Friday, June 28<\/b> at <\/span>19.30,<\/b> El Sistema Greece<\/b> will perform alongside the renowned <\/span>New York Youth Symphony <\/b>in a concert to be held at the <\/span>Amphitheatre Ioannis Despotopoulos of the Athens Conservatoire<\/b>. Thirty-five talented musicians from El Sistema Greece will join forces with the New York Youth Symphony to open the evening, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and harmony.<\/span><\/p>\n The New York Youth Symphony is an award-winning program for young people of its kind in America with a 2023 Grammy Award. It is recognized for its innovative activities and educational programs for talented young musicians. Founded in 1963 as an orchestra to develop talented musicians ages 12-22, its activities have since expanded to include chamber music, conducting, composition, jazz and music-theater songwriting programs with performances at world-class venues such as Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Through its First Music program, NYYS has commissioned over 170 works by young and emerging composers since 1984.<\/span><\/p>\n Andrew J. Kim<\/b> began his tenure as Music Director of the NYYS at the start of the 2023\/24 season. Mr. Kim is a conductor dedicated to passionate and joyful collaboration. Having had his life transformed by music, he strives to create and share extraordinary musical moments with others and to cultivate a vibrant musical community wherever he goes.<\/span><\/p>\n This collaboration aligns with El Sistema Greece’s mission to provide high quality music education and performance and collaboration opportunities to its musicians, and promotes social change through music.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n El Sistema Greece is an educational music program for social inclusion that provides high quality free music education to children and youth.
