#ESGstayshome season II
It feels like yesterday when in September we started the lessons of this new and very promising season. After the general lockdown that kept us apart at home last spring, we were more than thrilled to plan the new academic year.
During the summer, we had enough time to be prepared and enrich our yearly schedule with new instruments! We found the way and the sources to start a new El Sistema Greece nucleo in the city of Corinth. We even had the opportunity to present live-streamed the third version of the greek Lullaby Project -our first concert of 2020!
However, the Covid-19 pandemic was still here and it was just a matter of time to have a second general lockdown in Greece. This time, we took advantage of the experience we gained last year, knowing exactly what steps to follow. The first week of the #ESGstayshome vol. 2 has been successfully completed with 50 hours of music.
On Monday the 9th of November all of the ESG lessons turned into digital. Screens keep us together once again: students from several neighborhoods in Athens, from refugee camps in the region of Attica, students living in Corinth and in the refugee camp of Corinth get connected with their teachers every afternoon.
With the help of technology we also made it to continue the weekly rehearsal of the El Sistema Greece Youth Orchestra. We have to admit that it was a completely different new experience but as the participants happily assured us, it was fun and interesting as always. We promised them to come back this week with more surprises and this is what we are planning to do.
Last but not least, the first Saturday at home was marked by the very first collaboration of El Sistema Greece with an El Sistema inspired program abroad. We promise to share all the details about this very special moment with you very soon…
We still have so many things we want to do and there is even more to learn. We are looking forward to the day that the pandemic will be over and we will be able to get back to normal but until then, we focus on and definitely we won’t give up. Better days are coming!
