Music for Active Citizenship: a Young Music Mentors Programme – Call for music students
We are happy to announce the call for young music Mentors in the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Music for Active Citizenship: a Young Music Mentors Programme” in collaboration with Sistema Cyprus.
The program aims to bring together 15 Young Music Mentors, 14 to 35 years old, who are studying a musical instrument, together with 30 children and young people from El Sistema Greece. Specifically, 15 young people who are already taking lessons in percussion, violin, viola, cello, flute, trumpet and French horn will participate in training seminars where they will learn the teaching methodology and practice of of El Sistema, they will collaborate with Sistema musicians, learn to communicate effectively, analyze, propose ideas, take actions, discover and also reach their full potential as active citizens in and out of the classroom.
This program will strengthen the capacity of the Young Music entors to promote music as a tool to reach young people with less opportunities, as well as to prevent racism and intolerance.. Additionally, the 3-month interaction that the participants will have with the Sistema children will encourage intercultural and interreligious dialogue, enhancing knowledge, acceptance and appreciation of diversity in society.
Participants will have to attend selected El Sistema Greece music classes on a weekly basis in our Athens located nucleus.
