On Monday 11 December at 20.00 the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre welcomes the intercultural symphony orchestra and choir of El Sistema Greece at the Stavros Niarchos Hall and invites you to an exciting Christmas journey around the world.
More than 100 children and young adults, aged 8–26, representing more than 30 nationalities, join forces for this great festive concert. Young artists will present iconic festive music from five continents and celebrate their cultural roots performing pieces from their countries of origin. The concert will be conducted by music director Kyriaki Kountouri.
A celebration of creativity, aiming to inspire the audience and convey the message of partnership and unity through the power of music.
The specially prepared musical arrangements, created in collaboration with the composition section of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University and composer Dimitra Trypani, bring to life the magic of Christmas and related traditions from different parts of the world.
The event is supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and is part of the SNF-Release Athens donation programme, as part of the SNF’s Global Health Initiative (GHI).
The SNFCC, since the beginning of its operation, has supported El Sistema Greece and has repeatedly hosted its students, giving them the opportunity to participate in high quality concerts, gaining valuable musical experience.
