  • The ESG School of Hip Hop ended up with an exciting concert that celebrated hip-hop culture!

Hip-hop culture gives us valuable space for expression and creativity and we celebrated it in the best way!

With a big concert on Friday July 1st, The El Sistema Greece School of Hip Hop Summer Camp the innovative educational music program of El Sistema Greece in collaboration with Blend Mishkin, that returned this year under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens, from June 27 to July 1 ended with a big concert at the Serafio City of Athens on Friday, July 1!

40 children and teenagers aged 10-16, from every corner of Athens, without any discrimination or restriction, with or without musical knowledge, had the opportunity to participate in the program completely free of charge for a whole week at the Serafion City of Athens, an attractive modern cultural space, open and accessible to everyone. The students of ESG School of Hip Hop collaborated with DJs and MCs as well as well-known Hip Hop guest artists, who honored us with their presence such as Anser, Taf Lathos and Fanis Afanis while they created and recorded their own original music and – as true artists – they presented it to the public in a big concert!

The weekly version of the summer camp also included graffiti workshops and break dance lessons. Everything the kids need in order to get in touch with all the elements of hip hop (djing, rhymin, break dance, graffiti) and to set up their own complete show!

As part of the program, the children also met well-known Hip Hop artists, who participated as guests in the program, such as Anser, Fanis Afanis and Taf Lathos, who even honored the students of the program with their participation in the recording of the new of the song entitled “Black Matter”, which will be released in the fall of 2022, a special and honorable experience for the children, after an accomplished artist showed them trust by giving them valuable space for expression and creation.

In the closing concert of the program, with the participation of all his students, the new rising hip hop talents took the stage and presented to the enthusiastic audience, including their parents and friends, their original musical creations, their skills in scratching and break dancing through an impressive choreography, but also in graffitti through the work that became the background of the concert and which they created as a team throughout the week.

We sincerely thank the Municipality of Athens for its continuous valuable support to the activities of El Sistema Greece and Serafio City of Athens for its excellent hospitality. We thank the co-creator of the program Blend Mishkin and the excellent teachers BNC, DJ Marble, Noless. One and Tesi Evelpidou, who with their talent, professionalism and ethos set the best example for our students and of course all the children who honored us with their participation and which, as always, taught us much more than what we taught them.

Finally, we would like to thank the supporters of the program, the 3E company for the offer of juices and water for the whole week and Alfa Metaxotypies for the offer of the T-shirts for the children’s concert.
