The talented young musicians of the intercultural orchestra and choir of El Sistema Greece, who come from over 40 countries of the world, participate this year for the second time in the Athens Festival and in collaboration with the producer, musician and DJ Blend Mishkin (George Mantas), promise us a musical evening full of surprises!
On July 5, the members of El Sistema Greece Youth Orchestra and El Sistema Greece Youth Choir join forces with Blend Mishkin’s reggae-soul band Roots Evolution and favourite Greek singers, in an artistically unexpected meeting at the iconic Odeon of Herodes Atticus, presenting new versions of songs – milestones for the contemporary music, based on past great hits, introduce younger generations to sounds from the past while creating a new musical world.
Since 2016, the educational music programme El Sistema Greece offers free music lessons to children and young people in various locations in Attica and Corinth, including refugee camps, in order to create a community without restrictions and discrimination, with music at its core. Music is an international language universally recognized as a powerful tool for social integration and meaningful communication, while through their participation in musical ensembles, ESG students – regardless of nationality, language and religion – acquire skills of communication and cooperation useful not only in music but in life in general and are inspired for a better future.
