On Friday 26 May the intercultural youth symphony orchestra of El Sistema Greece will join forces with musicians from other orchestras as part of the Rolex Arts Festival, for a unique concert at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre.

Among a program of diverse artistic activities, a concert by El Sistema Greece Youth Orchestra & Friends will take place on the evening of the 20th Anniversary of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative’s Gala at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, conducted by the Spanish conductor and 2002-2003 Rolex protégé Josep Caballé Domenech. The concert’s repertoire will be diverse, with classical and contemporary pieces.

El Sistema Greece Youth Orchestra will be honored with the participation of members of the orchestras  Camerata Junior and Underground Youth Orchestra.

Rolex Arts Festival will be implemented between 26 and 28 of May 2023.

ABOUT EL SISTEMA GREECE

El Sistema Greece is an educational music program for social integration that offers free music education to children and young people in order to create a community with music at its core, without restrictions and discrimination. Founded in November 2017, El Sistema Greece Youth Orchestra is an intercultural educational orchestra that offers a unique orchestral learning process based on the principles and innovative teaching practices of El Sistema Venezuela. The orchestra is open to young musicians aged 8-26 years old who are proficient in an orchestral instrument, regardless of origin, language or religion. The SNFCC has supported the organization since its beginning and has repeatedly hosted the students of El Sistema Greece, giving them the opportunity to participate in concerts of the highest level, gaining valuable musical experience.

Multidisciplinary performances, exhibitions, readings, screenings, installations and discussions will share the achievements and ongoing creative relationships of more than 60 Rolex protégés and mentors. It will fill stages, galleries and public spaces at nine venues in Athens – the cradle of arts and learning – for a full week in spring 2023 with more than 30 performances and events, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.
