  • Music for Active Citizenship: a Young Music Mentors Programme – Invitation to music students

We are pleased to announce the call for Young Music Mentors, in the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Music for Active Citizenship: a Young Music Mentors Programme” in collaboration with Sistema Cyprus.

The project aims to bring together 15 Young Music Mentors, 14 to 35 years old, from different social backgrounds, who are involved in learning to play a musical instrument together with 30 children and young people from El Sistema Greece.

Specifically, 15 young people who are already taking percussion, violin, viola, cello, flute, trumpet and French horn lessons will participate in training seminars where they will be trained in the method and practice of El Sistema’s teaching, collaborate with El Sistema Greece musicians, learn to communicate effectively, analyse, analyze, propose ideas, take action, discover and fully realize their potential as active citizens in and out of the classroom.

This programme will strengthen the capacity of young mentors to promote music as a tool to reach young people with fewer opportunities, as well as a means of preventing racism and intolerance among young people. In addition, the quarterly interaction that the participants will have with the children of El Sistema Greece will encourage intercultural and interfaith dialogue and enhance knowledge, acceptance and appreciation of diversity in society.

Participants will be required to attend selected El Sistema Greece music classes on a weekly basis at our main venue in Athens.

Join us and be part of the program to improve your skills and get ready for unforgettable musical experiences!
