Young Leaders Program

The Young Leaders Program is a transformative initiative inspired by the world-renowned El Sistema educational system in Venezuela. Developed by the educator Francis Gagliardi, our program is not just about nurturing young musical talent; it’s a journey of empowerment, identity, and community building.

Each academic year, the program assembles a diverse cohort of talented and committed young music students from El Sistema Greece. These students represent the rich tapestry of our society, including Greek citizens, first, second, and third-generation migrants, as well as refugees and asylum seekers. This diversity sparks creativity and exchange, and provides a safe space for self-expression and growth.

The Young Leaders Program offers students the tools to enhance critical thinking, decision-making, and self-expression skills, laying a strong foundation for their future endeavors. Through monthly meetings, workshops, and collaborations with external individuals and institutions, our participants evolve into critical thinkers and active community members. They gain a profound understanding of community dynamics and develop a thoughtful approach to the challenges facing society.

But our program goes beyond mere education; it’s a catalyst for change. Participation in various projects and tasks helps these Young Leaders evolve into proactive change-makers in society. They become civically engaged, raise their educational attainment, and gain a deeper appreciation of societal values, applying them in their daily lives. Activities such as volunteering, voting, and community engagement serve as formative experiences and pathways to future opportunities, strengthening the bonds within their communities.

Through the Young Leaders Program, participants find a confident and proactive voice in the world, fostering openness to dialogue, and enhancing their independence in decision-making. They realize the consequences of their actions on others’ lives, leading to more responsible and considerate choices in their journey towards making a positive impact.
