The music ensembles of El Sistema are just like small societies. Thanks to music children are not only inspired to strive for a better future, but they are also given a platform for dialogue and togetherness across diverse communities. Within an orchestra, students learn to consistently work to achieve their goals, in a bid to pursue excellence. By spending time with their peers in an environment of tolerance and solidarity they grow and learn to accept, amidst a culture of peace.
El Sistema Greece Youth Orchestra (ESGYO) -launched in November 2017 is one of the musical programs of El Sistema Greece. It is not just another youth orchestra. In fact, ESGYO is an educational orchestra offering a unique process of orchestral learning based on the El Sistema Venezuela teaching principles and practices.
Through a very varied repertoire and fun activities, we promote social inclusion, creativity, safe communication and musical development of high standards. Our orchestra brings young people together no matter their cultural background, musical level, goals or even language through music we provide them with a tool to express themselves and create new dreams. During the sectional and tutti rehearsals the members learn how to be part of an orchestra under the Conductor’s instructions.
The Principal Conductor of ESGYO is Safira Antzus-Ramos.
ESGYO is open to children and youth between 8-26 years old with or without experience playing in orchestras.
