El Sistema Greece welcomes the most festive time of the year and invites you to a musical performance with Mr. Scrooge at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, with Jerome Kaluta as narrator.
On Sunday 18 December at 12.30, at the Amphitheater of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, the “Kypseli” Orchestra and the El Sistema Greece Youth Choir join forces and “bring to life” Scrooge, a cantata for young voices based on Charles’ Dickens famous Christmas Carols. Our favorite actor and singer Jerome Kaluta will act as narrator in the popular play, which reminds us of all values associated with the Christmas spirit.
The performance is a co-production with Athens 9.84 and will be broadcasted live on the radio station on 98.4 FM by Lilly Karatzaferi.
The play
Miserable and cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge believes that Christmas is a fraud. He is suddenly visited by the spirit of his old business partner, who warns him to change his vicious and languid character so that he will not meet the same fate as him. The three ghosts of Christmas – Past, Present and Future – will remind him of his mistakes and make him regret his behavior. Eventually, the avaricious Scrooge who feels no compassion for anyone is transformed into the greatest benefactor of his town and changes forever.
